Tsukue Akimoto is a comic artist based in Tokyo who has greatly been influenced by Asian and foreign cultures. His spirit of pursuit to exoticism of those cultures and excitements of traveling abroad add unique and geek flavor to entire his works.
As a comic artist, Akimoto recently contributed “Unreadable Comic vol.3” to š! #28 Scandal! published by kuš!, the Lavtian comic publisher, and “Relaxin” to Smoke Signal vol. 28 published by Desert Island Comics.
Besides comics, there is an Akimoto’s unique artwork series by drawings & collages called “Ejacke” that is vinyl record sleeve-like cardboards works. Ejacke is his coined, pun word means “Pictured sleeve jacket without a vinyl contained”. In Japanese, “E(ae)” pronunciation means a picture and “Jacke” is his abbreviation means “jacket” (record sleeve). This series gave great vibes and impacts to juries and reviewers at the Unknown Asia 2017 in Osaka, Japan. Akimoto received judges Benny Au and Eric Zhu Prizes, reviewersTokimasa Otani ,
Takafumi Kobuki , Hiroko Kuboyama Awards and also he was one of the grand prize finalists among more than 200 participants from 8 countries.
He is recently expanding his fields to outside Japan for some art book fairs in Seoul and Taipei as a zinemaker.
